GOD KNOWS MORE THAN ME! AND YOU, TOO. Now THAT is a “no-brainer!” I agree. But don’t dismiss that statement too fast because, like me, you probably need to remind yourself of that on a regular basis.
I hope you realize that sometimes you say far more about what you really believe with your actions than you do with your words. And, sometimes we say even more with our faces than we do with our mouths. Other times, we reveal what’s going on in our minds by the things we imply with our words.
I was able to attend the Evangelism Conference in Carrollton recently and heard Dr. Emir Caner and Dr. Jerry Vines preach during the services.
Dr. Caner was preaching about the two who walked along the road to Emmaus and talked with Jesus in Luke 24. He focused briefly on verse 21, which quotes the men saying, “But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel.”
He went on to say that these two men knew about Jesus and knew about what was going on in Jerusalem that weekend, but they expressed their disbelief that God knew more than them when they made that statement. “We had hoped…” is not coming right out and saying they doubted God, but it is saying they doubt He has everything under control. They communicated their feelings that since things didn’t turn out like they “had hoped,” God had somehow failed or was wrong in allowing these events to occur.
Sometimes we do that, too.
Often, we worry, complain, grumble, or get down when things don’t go our way. We get angry or frustrated when God doesn’t answer a prayer the way we think He should.
I get that. In fact, I understand it. But I don’t want you to get stuck there and let it turn into a root for bitterness to hold you captive. Be careful because it happens to many.
On the other hand, some have God so figured out that they’ve convinced themselves that God wants it done their way, so they strike out to prove God’s way is the right way at any cost. BUT, in reality, it’s their point they are trying to prove and not God’s. Be careful you don’t go down that path either.
It’s good to be clear on this simple point and maybe repeat it to yourself regularly:
God SEES more than I do and He KNOWS more than I know. I’ll TRUST His Word.
mailto:andy@troupbaptist.orgProof of that thought is seen after Jesus explained the Scripture to them. After He showed them the truth, their disbelief was turned into inspiration and they became energetic witnesses to the TRUTH.
Any time you’re faced with a choice between God’s Word and your best thought or idea, go with God’s Word. That’s a no-brainer, too.
Love and Blessings,

“O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
LUKE 24:25
LUKE 24:28-32
So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, 29 but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far spent.” So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
